Following many months of hard work on documentation and negotiation the CAI is pleased to announce that a new benchmark specification is now available that forms the basis of a testing certification process for twin-feed coaxial cables. The CAI, cable distributors and BSkyB have worked towards agreeing a standard for twin-feed coax ever since Sky TV launched their twin-tuner receiver boxes, starting with Sky+. There was an obvious need for a signal feeder that would supply a twin-tuner satellite receivers without making the installation of two cables feeds obtrusive. Mainly aimed at the single dwelling market where cable runs need to be aesthetically laid and of short extent, it is hoped this product will increase the market where installation of normal gauge feeders is difficult. However, this cable will not become a defacto standard for commercial installations where longer runs and signal losses would cause problems. More information on communal system application will soon be made available to CAI members in the member section of the website.
