It is becoming more and more common for the CAI to be asked if there is an Apprenticeship Scheme operating in our industry now that the government is re-structuring and re-directing funding and incentives into skills shortage areas.
School-leavers and college options are being directed at the areas of work where workers are most needed. Electrical & Electronic Servicing - the category in which our Signal Reception rests at the moment - comes under this directive.
To this end in order to prepare and upskill younger members of the workforce for future advances in a rapidly changing industry, North Herts College is preparing to offer an apprenticeship in Signal Reception. The CAI Education & Skills Programme and its managing committee will be exploring ways of supporting this scheme, for CAI companies wishing to take advantage of apprenticeships.
If you employ – or are considering taking on workers under the age of 19 – there is no cost to the employer for enrolling young people on the scheme.
