valuable reference book.
An Introduction to Domestic Radio, TV & Satellite Reception
has been compiled and written by R A Calaz, who has been employed
in the industry for over 40 years and during this time, has
written many articles and presented technical papers worldwide.
He is currently responsible for several technical training
courses that are run by the Confederation of Aerial Industries.
More than half of the book
is devoted to the reception of terrestrial and satellite programmes,
with particular emphasis on ITV Digital and BSkyB digital
reception techniques. There are lots of practical tips covering
installation methods and the setting up of each part of the
system.
The remainder of the book
covers signal distribution using IRS and SMATV systems, Health
& Safety and the choice and use of test equipment. A comprehensive
glossary of terms is also included.
It is not necessary to have
a knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits in order
to benefit from reading this book. Many of the concepts are
conveyed by means of some 300 drawings and photographs and
the mathematics has been kept to an absolute minimum.
