An article in the last CAI journal, ‘Feedback’ has resulted in members asking if it now possible to bond multi-dwelling units (MDU) systems to a ring main earth. The answer is an emphatic no.
As well as member enquiries on technical issues, the CAI takes a number of calls each week from installers outside of the CAI’s membership. Most are seeking advice on system safety now that it figures in most tenders issued by the major housing authorities and construction companies. The only way to stay on top of the regulatory information that is needed in order to compete in today’s content delivery market is to join the CAI as a full member. The CAI has the only technical committees dedicated purely to informing the broadcast reception installer trade on mandatory rules and regulations. Qualifications, training and certification are all laudable, necessary achievements – but it is the continuing professional development that is most important in order to keep up to date.
