Matthew Aerial & Satellite Systems Ltd
At the age of 18, Mick started working for DER as an aerial rigger’s mate and he quickly progressed to become a fully-fledged rigger. Mick moved to Matthew Aerials at the age of 20 where he worked as a rigger for a number of year as ‘625’ line transmission became the norm and colour television was expanding into many homes. He soon became a Manager and started installing MATV and following the expansion of the company, he became a partner in Matthew Aerials. In 1987, Mick took over Matthew Aerials and today the company covers all aspects of satellite and TV aerial installations. Mick still regularly undertakes installations with his engineers and is very much a “hands-on” proprietor.
Mick feels that with nearly 40 years in the industry, his experience will benefit other members of the CAI. Mick was an active Board Member in the 1990s and now that his son, Jamie, has taken over some of the management role within Matthew Aerials, this has given Mick more time to dedicate to other aspects of the industry. He has always felt passionately towards the Confederation and feels that he can now give back some time and effort to the industry that has been his raison d’être for almost 40 years. Mick currently assists on the Development, Membership and Health & Safety Committees. |
