Senior Succession It took a while, but the hunt is over for a new senior executive at the CAI. I’m pleased to say that the board has appointed my successor and Peter Sealey will be joining us this month. Members may well remember Peter from his many years working in Sky Homes, or during his time in other parts of Sky. Peter’s been running his own business for the last 10 years, so is also aware of the trials, tribulations and opportunities that brings. During his time working for himself he has maintained his contacts with the trade and is now looking forward to renewing those relationships with CAI members and officers, as well as making new ones amongst the members and the wider industry. Peter says ‘I am very excited about the opportunity to succeed Tim. Though his boots will be impossible to fill, I hope I can continue to uphold his guiding principle; that the CAI exists to add value to its members. I’m looking forward to meeting as many CAI members as possible over the coming months, and hearing their views on the benefits of memberships and how these can be improved still further.’ Peter will be attending Evolving Connectivity 2018 on 26 April and the Gala Dinner the night before, so he hopes to meet as many members as possible at this time. He will assume some duties as soon as possible after 6 April so that we can focus on some member visits and introduce him to the broadcaster stakeholders we work with. I will, however, be remaining at the CAI until my 65th birthday on 18 June, but this will therefore be my last offering to Feedback, which in itself has been through many changes over my years at the CAI. Member Visits Before I take a trip down memory lane, lets take a look at where we are now. A two-pronged assault this. Firstly, I am continuing to visit some members as part of a ‘farewell tour’ – gathering opinion on where the CAI needs to focus for the future in a hybrid world of content delivery. The other objective is triggered by a letter from either Kevin Dawson or myself that states a time and date when we plan to visit your work-base for a look at how the business is run and sample some work. A considerable number of members have been neglected by us with regards to our commitment on assessment visits, and so we have to bring the process into line with promises we’ve made over the years to a number of stakeholders in that we assess every member within a 2 to 3 year time-frame. Our TrustMark Scheme Operator agreement states that we have to visit all TrustMark registered members within 3 years, but at the moment this is clearly not happening. Can I urge all members to co-operate with the CAI Officers on receipt of a letter stating the time and date of a visit appointment.
