20425 - CAI Feedback Sep2019 COMPLETE v1 lowres

Well, I can certainly say it’s been another busy six months since I last wrote for Feedback As well as being the Senior Executive I also chair the Marketing and Education and Skills committees, so my report to you will touch on all these areas as well as an overall view Many of the services and benefits that our members appreciate most about CAI membership continue to move in a positive direction We’ve passed our City and Guilds audit again, (thanks Amanda), enabling us to continue to offer C&G accredited training programmes We’re due to have our annual TrustMark audit around the time you’re reading this too, so hopefully that’ll be just as successful We’ve also continued our relationship with CSCS, meaning the only route to a blue CSCS “skills” card for the aerial and satellite industry remains being via a CAI Diploma That is unless, of course, you already have the NVQ Level 3 in Electronic and Electrical Servicing (signal reception pathway) qualification As you all know, a CSCS card is vital if you want to work on construction sites As training was discussed previously, it seems a good time to expand on the topic As well as our existing, very popular training programmes, we’ve added a more advanced Fibre course and an Introduction to Project Management course We’re also looking to develop 7 more programmes, one already announced – An Introduction to Digital Marketing – plus others looking at Business Administration, Vulnerable Customer and Staff Awareness Training, Meter Training, An Advanced Home Networking Course, Smart Building Technology Course and a Risk Assessment Programme We’ll communicate about these courses once they’ve finished their development and hope members take up the opportunity to develop their expertise, at a discounted member’s rate - as always We’re always grateful for feedback from members on the training they undertake, as well as for suggestions for other areas where you’d like us to develop training programmes Another service that is always popular with members, is the provision of Codes of Practice for the industry The Technical Committee decided to establish a dedicated sub-committee tasked with updating the Codes of Practice, and hopefully you’ll see the first fruits of this early in 2020 when we release the updated CoP1, which covers the installation of terrestrial and satellite TV reception systems in MDU’s and commercially The sub-committee has already started work on other codes and hope to issue updated versions of them all throughout 2020 The same committee will also be looking at the templates and forms we provide members, but feel that the Codes of Practice updates should be the first priority We are also always trying to find ways to direct customers to members Firstly, we receive many calls in the office from potential customers looking Senior Executive Report Peter Sealey, Senior Executive Training 33 CAI Feedback Autumn 2019
