of sports, film and news channels provided by Sky UK and BFBS all over the world, although obviously these channels are encrypted - so for Forces personnel only This makes me feel particularly proud because, as many of you know, I served just short of 13 years in the Blues & Royals (Household Cavalry) I had the full guided tour of their complex based in Chalfont St Peter in Bucks The site is impressive, with production and news studios where they broadcast live news to our Forces all over the world There is also a training academy for ex-Forces members who can learn editing and broadcasting skills etc SSVC are very much moving into IPTV and have shown a strong interest in helping CAI with training in this aspect of their broadcasting I will let you know when we have this training in place Another broadcaster who is a member of CAI, as you will all know, is Sky Although Sky are an installing member, obviously they are also a major broadcaster Over the last 2/3 years CAI has built a very strong relationship with the Sky Homes team, headed by Dave Cook (MDU Technical & Quality Manager) Many of you already know how this relationship is working for you In short, you finally have a dedicated team of very senior and extremely capable engineers (eight in total) at Sky, who are always more than pleased to help you out with technical advice and in some cases will even meet on site to sort out possible problems you may be having This has been a great benefit to our systems members, and I am consistently getting positive feedback from our members about Sky’s helpfulness I recently asked Dave if it was possible to carry out a member assessment at Sky UK Within an hour a pass had been arranged for me to visit Sky UK at Isleworth, and a full assessment was carried out over the day Dave was proud to show me around the installers training facilities (which are just superb), from dedicated houses being built inside their units to the training rooms and the quality of their instructors
