Signal Distibution Specialist ECS Card

In August 2024 CAI and The Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) announced the launch of the new Signal Distribution Specialist ECS card, specifically designed for professionals holding the CAI (Confederation of Aerial Industries) Foundation Diploma in Signal Reception for Aerial and Satellite specialists. This card is a significant milestone in recognising the specialised skills and expertise required in the field of signal distribution.

One of the crucial updates associated with the launch is the cessation of eligibility for the Signal Distribution Specialist role through the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). Effective from 1st October 2024, the ECS card will be the sole recognised personnel certification scheme for professionals in this field. This change aims to streamline the certification process and align it more closely with the specific requirements of the electrotechnical industry.

To be eligible for an ECS Signal Distribution Specialist card, you must have successfully completed one of the following:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Electrical and Electronics Servicing (City & Guilds 1687) - Signal Reception Pathway, or
  • An NVQ Level 2 in Aerial and Satellite Installation or equivalent, or
  • CAI Diploma in Signal Reception
