Silver Voices has launched a public petition calling on Government to commit to protecting terrestrial television delivered via aerial well into the 2040s. It speaks directly to concerns we have all been raising through the Broadcast 2040+ campaign about the risk of audiences being pushed towards internet only TV, particularly older people, those on lower incomes and communities with poor connectivity.
The timing is important. The BBC Charter Review consultation is now live and decisions about the future of public service broadcasting and universal access are starting to come into sharper focus. This petition is a practical way for audiences to show that broadcast TV still matters and that switching it off would have serious consequences for many viewers.
