CAI Member Survey explores the future of television distribution

CAI has published the findings of its latest member survey exploring the future of television distribution and a potential transition from DTT to IPTV.

The survey received 43 valid member responses, providing insight from professionals working across homes, communal buildings and specialist reception environments. Members highlighted the practical challenges a transition could present, particularly around whole-home connectivity, existing equipment, reliability and consumer support.

Key findings include 74% of respondents expecting substantial practical work to replace existing television connections, while 74% regularly encounter poor room-to-room connectivity. Meanwhile, 84% said government and industry should plan for at least three concurrent television streams at peak times.

The survey also highlights the role CAI members could play in supporting households through any future transition, with existing expertise in network diagnosis, connectivity, structured cabling, equipment adaptation and customer support providing a strong practical foundation.
