Virgin Media Adds Tennis Channel to TV Line-Up
Virgin Media O2 has added Tennis Channel to the streaming channel line-up available to Virgin TV 360 and Flex customers, giving viewers access to a dedicated 24-hour tennis service at no additional cost. The channel is available on channel 542 and is integrated into Virgin Media's electronic programme guide and voice search.
Live coverage on Tennis Channel will begin on 18 August, featuring major international competitions including the Davis Cup, Billie Jean King Cup, United Cup and Hopman Cup. The service will also broadcast 35 ATP Challenger Tour events between January and November.
The channel also holds rights to Ultimate Tennis Showdown events in Guadalajara, Nîmes, Hong Kong and London, as well as a selection of British grass-court tournaments. These include the men's and women's events at Queen's, Birmingham, Ilkley, Nottingham and Eastbourne.
Alongside live tennis, the service will feature interviews, player profiles, magazine programmes, highlights and archive matches from major tournaments including the Australian Open and US Open.
The addition brings Tennis Channel into Virgin Media's growing range of streamed services. The platform now offers around 40 streaming channels, with recent additions including Robot Wars, Demand Drama, River Monsters and The Hotel Inspector.
The move reflects the continued expansion of streaming channel offerings within traditional pay-TV platforms, giving customers access to more specialised content alongside established television services. For Virgin Media O2, the addition of Tennis Channel provides another way to broaden its sports offering and give customers access to live and on-demand tennis content.
