Netflix UK Revenue Surpasses £2 Billion in 2025

Netflix generated £2.06 billion in UK revenue in 2025, surpassing the revenue generated by ITV's Media & Entertainment division for the first time and highlighting the growing influence of streaming in the British television market.

Netflix's UK revenue increased by 11.3% year on year, from £1.85 billion in 2024. The growth was driven by a 7% increase in its average number of paying customers alongside higher average monthly revenue per subscriber.

The figure puts Netflix ahead of ITV's Media & Entertainment business, which generated around £1.99 billion in 2025. However, ITV's total group revenue was significantly higher at £4.12 billion when its ITV Studios production and distribution business is included.

Netflix's operating profit in the UK also increased slightly to £44.9 million, while profit after tax reached £53.3 million. The company employed an average of 342 people in the UK during 2025.

The financial milestone comes as Netflix continues to strengthen its position with UK audiences. Ofcom's latest Media Nations report found that 26% of viewers say Netflix is the service they turn to first when deciding what to watch, compared with 25% for the BBC and 15% for ITV. Ofcom notes that the difference between Netflix and the BBC is not statistically significant.

Despite the growth of streaming, traditional broadcasters continue to attract significant audiences through live events and on-demand platforms. Ofcom reported that viewing of broadcaster-owned services including BBC iPlayer and ITVX increased by 9% year on year in 2025.

Netflix's latest results nevertheless underline the changing economics of the UK television market, with global streaming platforms now competing directly with established broadcasters for both audiences and revenue.
