Netflix has announced that production has begun in the UK on The Inbetweeners 3, a new feature film continuing the popular British sitcom and its two successful movies.
Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas will reprise their roles as Will McKenzie, Jay Cartwright, Neil Sutherland and Simon Cooper respectively. The film will also see original creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris return to write and direct.
The Inbetweeners originally aired on E4 for three seasons between 2008 and 2010, becoming one of the UK's most successful sitcoms. It was followed by The Inbetweeners Movie in 2011 and The Inbetweeners 2 in 2014, both of which were major box-office successes.
The new film marks the return of the original four leads more than a decade after the second movie. Netflix has not yet announced a release date, with production now underway in the UK.
The project follows an agreement signed in 2025 between Beesley and Morris' production company Fudge Park and Banijay UK, which helped unlock the rights and potential for the franchise to return.
The return of The Inbetweeners adds another established British franchise to Netflix's growing UK content slate, as the streaming platform continues to invest in locally produced entertainment.
