Sky and NFTS Partner on New Apprenticeship Programme

Sky has announced a new apprenticeship programme in partnership with the National Film and Television School (NFTS), designed to create new routes into careers in television and film production. Applications are now open, with the programme starting in January 2027.

Two apprentices will join Sky Entertainment through a Level 4 Junior Production Coordinator Apprenticeship. The 15-month programme will combine paid, hands-on experience with training and work towards a nationally recognised qualification.

Apprentices will gain experience across Sky Studios Elstree, Osterley and scripted and unscripted productions, working alongside production teams and developing practical skills involved in bringing programmes to audiences. The programme is being funded in partnership with Publicis Media’s APX Content Ventures.

The initiative builds on Sky’s wider partnership with NFTS, including the Sky Post Production Apprenticeship. A new cohort for that programme is due to begin training this month, with applications for the next intake opening in October.

Sky said the programme reflects its commitment to making careers in the creative industries more accessible. Since 2012, its Sky Up Academy has reached nearly 360,000 young people, helping them explore their creative potential and careers in media.

The apprenticeship is part of wider efforts across the screen industries to create more accessible routes into production and develop the next generation of creative talent.
