What trades do CAI cover?
CAI members install all types of TV and radio antennas – including satellite dishes. They also network the signals from these antennas around the home or business. Many CAI members are also trained to install broadband, telephone communications systems as well as door access and CCTV.
What is the difference between CAI and CAI plus?
'CAI plus’ was set up as a higher grade of membership for installers who completed safe working at height certification and DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checked.
Who do I contact if I have a technical query?
CAI members who have technical queries can use the online technical forum or can contact a member of our technical team by phone or online 'Technical Query' form. Members must be logged-in to view the form.
Can I use the Freeview and Freesat logo’s if I’m a CAI member?
The CAI has formed a partnership with Freeview and Freesat to provide members with a gateway to obtaining use of the logos. To gain certified use of the Freeview and Freesat logos, applicants must agree to a Trademark License Agreement. Further information can be found on the following links:
All CAI industry and business templates can be found in the ‘Downloads’ section of the website. This is a benefit of membership and can only be viewed by members. To view all downloads, members must be logged into the site with their unique username and password. All CAI members can obtain login details for the trade site but will need to request these from the 'Request Member Access' page.
What is mobile broadband interference?
Mobile broadband, more widely known as wireless internet access, is delivered via mobile networks to provide mobile devices such as smartphones, laptops and tablets to access the internet. Some mobile broadband and TV received through an aerial use parts of the radio spectrum - bands of frequencies and those used for some mobile services are close to those previously used for free to view TV. As a result, when a nearby mobile mast is upgraded, there is a small chance aerials, TV, or set-top box could struggle to receive a good TV signal. Restore TV provides support for problems with TV received through an aerial and has been caused by mobile service upgrades below 900 MHz. Further information can be found on https://restoretv.uk/ or in the ‘Downloads’ section - members must be logged into view.
What is the Certificate of Compliance, Communal & Commercial Signal Distribution Systems Scheme?
This is a template document and certification providing landlords and housing managers with a maintenance plan that avoids disruptive, costly refurbishments in years ahead. Broadcasting is the fastest changing industry of all. By timetabling regular service intervals on a system, CAI installers can identify any work required to maintain an up-to-date, safe and functional signal network. Specifically, communal buildings such as apartments, residential care homes, communal housing projects, offices and other multi-roomed facilities. A reasonable regular payment maintenance plan can be agreed under the scheme.
Does the CAI have approved Safe Working at Heights training centres?
The CAI has a number of approved training providers in the UK who have been assessed, to ensure the centre and course syllabus meets the CAI standards and guidelines. Our approved training centres can be found on the 'External Training Providers' page.
Who do I contact if a trader is misusing the CAI logo?
The logos below are Registered ® Trademarks of the Confederation of Aerial Industries Ltd. The logos are protected under the Trade Marks Act (1994) and the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations Act (2008). Non-members using the CAI logo without permission will be prosecuted.
With thousands of advertisements being placed every year in local newspapers and telephone directories, the office of the CAI is proactive in ensuring wherever possible that the CAI Logo has not been used by a non-member. The CAI takes a very serious view of the misuse of the CAI Logo and reports every occurrence to Trading Standards without exception.

TrustMark is the only UK Government-Endorsed Quality Scheme for work carried out in or around the home.
Since they started in 2005, they have been working to help drive up standards across the industry and improve the protection offered to homeowners when having work done. They’re a not-for-profit business, meaning they can focus on their customers – homeowners and tradespeople - and not on shareholders.
CAI achieved scheme operator status for TrustMark in February 2015 enabling CAI installing members only to apply for TrustMark status so that they can be found by homeowners using the TrustMark search facility. The scheme operator license was awarded to CAI following a thorough assessment of all its processes for vetting and inspecting installers as well as its customer service policies, compliance audits, quality management and complaint handling procedures.
As a TrustMark Scheme Provider, we commit to meeting the operating requirements of their Quality Scheme.
We work with our TrustMark Registered Businesses to ensure they commit to and maintain the required standards of technical competence, trading practices and customer service.
