Signal improvements in North East England but still problems for Teeside and the Durham coast

Arqiva has enhanced the signal delivered by two of its relay transmitters in North East England. The company continues to fill in coverage gaps left by the loss of the original Bilsdale transmitter. Freeview signal improvement at Seaham and Sunderland relays means both sites can provide better coverage in homes affected.

Freeview Channel Reshuffle

Freeview will undergo its biggest channel reshuffle since 2020 around lunchtime on 26 January when dozens of channels will move to new positions in the channel list.  Many of Freeview’s entertainment, lifestyle, factual and teleshopping channels will move to new channel numbers but most will simply move down one number on the channel list.

Freesat 4K set top boxes are latest products to pass DTG testing and CAI’s European IRS Certification Scheme (EICS)

Leading TV platform, Freesat, has become the latest company to have satellite receivers pass the European-wide assurance scheme for TV and Satellite distribution equipment known as the European IRS Certification Scheme (EICS).

Its UHD 4X 500 and UHD X receivers passed the test specification, demonstrating the high quality of the Freesat set top boxes and their compatibility with other products that pass the EICS within an Integrated Reception System.

The first scheme of its kind, the EICS test specification provides ‘reassurance of end-to-end device compatibility, interoperability and robust RF performance within satellite and DTT distribution systems.'
